Insulated Glass Units

After a while the seal on IGUs can break down from weather and age and let moisture in. We measure the size of the IGU your existing window needs and order you a new one. Once it arrives we swap the old unit for the new one to give your windows a fresh look and to keep the insulation factor working.

Some IGUs have clear glass while others have what’s called Low-E glass. Low-E glass has a microscopically thin, transparent coating—it is much thinner than a human hair—that reflects long-wave infrared energy (or heat). Some Low-E’s also reflect significant amounts of short-wave solar infrared energy. When the interior heat energy tries to escape to the colder outside during the winter, the low-e coating reflects the heat back to the inside, reducing the radiant heat loss through the glass. The reverse happens during the summer.

Some windows have decorative muntin bars between the two glass panes. The muntin bars come in various colors, styles, and widths. We can match them in your new IGUs. Other windows have wooden or plastic grids on the outside of the glass that can be reused.

IGUs are sometimes called thermopanes since thermopane was a very early distributor of the double-paned glass units, similar to Kleenex for tissues.

Vinyl Windows and Storm Windows

We can install custom vinyl windows in different configurations such as double-hung windows and casement windows. Triple Track Storms and Screens can be added to existing windows, and we can fab custom storm windows to fit in existing master frames.
